Picking up the Pieces - Publisher Statement - Plot spoilers!!
Picking up the Pieces in an unusal drama for Christian fiction in today's society. Unusual as it deals with such serious dramatic topics including rape, teenage pregnancy, abortion, accidental injury and death, sexual harrassment and then at the end of it all there is still a prevailing forgiveness and real love! It truly demonstrates how God can work in people's lives and how forgiveness can be given for even the most serious of offences.
Paula Vince has woven a tale that is unlike anything else and needs to be available in the market place. Not only for outstanding contemporary drama, but the issues it presents.
Even Before Publishing is a publisher who is actively promoting books with pro-life perspectives, support for women in pregnancy and with a strong belief in the importance of life before birth. I strongly believe that God has given us a mandate to talk about these issues, work through these circumstances and fight for the dramas of Picking up the Pieces to not happen to our families. Not withstanding that characters overcome the difficult circumstances and bad decisions, the choices and mistakes made are not ones we would want for our teenagers.
My prayer through publishing this book is that readers will be strengthened to talk about these issues, and as a result forgiveness is possible. Even in Christian circles coerced abortions have occurred. I pray that this story will help us all to realise it is never right or God's plan.
This novel is an opportunity for Christians to speak up. If we fight for the teenage pregnant girl and encourage her in her decision to parent we can help her through it.
As in the story the character finds healing only through forgiveness and the forgiving of those who influenced her circumstances. But also the character needed to forgive herself. This book is important not only in it's intensity, excellent writing
Rochelle Manners, Publisher, Even Before Publishing
Picking up the Pieces is the best book of its kind I’ve read in ages. A well written novel about relationships with characters that live on long after you put it down. It bravely examines issues that are so often swept under the carpet.
